This ministry got its start 137 years ago. It was 1875 when Chicago businessman David C. Cook heard God’s call to share the Gospel with children left homeless by the Great Chicago Fire. Christians living in the devastated city were willing to volunteer, but were not sure what to do. That’s when Cook bought a printing press and began producing materials for the local believers who had the desire to serve, but not the know-how. That is still the pattern today. All over the world where the Church is growing the fastest, teaching materials are nonexistent or in short supply. We are doing everything we can to fill that void.
David C Cook is a global ministry whose resources are published in more than 150 languages, distributed in more than 80 countries. They are sold in the wealthy countries of the world and either subsidized or given away in developing countries.
Today, David C Cook is highly respected as a world-class publisher. While we appreciate that, mission comes first with us. We are non-profit. We earn all we can and we gather donations so we can give millions of dollars a year worth of resources to local churches in parts of the world where nothing is available.
